This site is an exhibition of the work that I created in my Teaching Science class, fall 2005.

All of the links and work that I have completed this past semester have relied heavily on following
the National Science Education Standards. These standards are important for teachers and students alike to ensure that
all students are consistent in their science learning throughout their education. They have been set in order to help
aid in the advancement in science education while moving schools in one same direction.
One of the major standards that I hoped to achieve was to connect each of my lesson plans and critical
task to Content Standard A.) science as inquiry, and also Content Standard F.) Science in Personal and Social Perspectives
for grades 5-8. The reason I chose Content Standard A is because I think that if students are able to use the inquiry
skills they are being taught through science class they will be able to ask education questions, and also come to knowledgable
hypotheses, and also be able to answer some of their own questions that they may have throughout the school year. I also
think that it is important for students to understand what is occurring in the world around them which is why I chose content
standard F. to focus on. The best indication of carrying out these standards can be seen by clicking on the Critical
Task #6 link on the navigation bar.
Because I spent this past semester teaching 3 different science experiments and activities
to 8th graders, I also decided to cater my critical task assignments towards a similar grade level, 6th grade. This
way I would be able to see if the content standards I was hoping to fulfill was evident through student performance and assessment.
